MARIANNA, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -The Chipola College Indians are among a number of regional men’s junior college basketball teams playing in a jamboree in Georgia, kicking off the new season.

Donnie Tyndall is the head coach and enters his seventh year with the program.

Tyndall and the Indians are looking to build off a season that finished 26-8 overall. The team captured both the Panhandle Conference title, their sixth consecutive, and the FCSAA state title.

Tyndall said he has four returning players from that team, along with a mix of Division I and junior college transfers.

“Top to bottom, our talent level is comparable to my first two years here, which we went to two Final Fours with those teams,” Tyndall said. “So I think our talent level is pretty good. Like always, you got to keep guys healthy. Guys need to continue to grow and develop and all those things that come with a long season. But I do like our talent level and especially like the fact that 11 of these guys are sophomores.”

Following today’s jamboree, the Indians will be in Orlando this weekend for the JUCO All American Jamboree against Midland College and Florida State College at Jacksonville.
